As a platform, our team at Auxford Wave feels it is greatly important to recognize and support the historic contributions made to music from the African American Community. Whether it’s the origins of Rock-N-Roll from Chuck Berry, the foundation of Soul music from Aretha Franklin, or the beginnings of Jazz from Ella Fitzgerald, the accolades and further inspiration to a new generation of artists are the pillars of music, today.

When curating this playlist, it became blindingly evident that my status as a white male could not give justice to the wide array of contributions from the African American community. Thus, this list comes to you from the minds of artists, writers, and friends of color, who so graciously shared songs of deep significance to them. Remember to celebrate individuals of color, and recognize the division that we still face. Happy Black History Month – Jonas
